awaiting diagnosis

Hi, i have a 5yr old daughter who has autistic traits and is awaiting an ADOS assessment which could take up to 2 yrs on the waiting list. I am looking for any advice or support to help manage her. She is having a tough term at school as routine has been disrupted due to xmas performances. my daughter has trouble going out places and dislikes anything animatronic or people dressed up.(sorry santa, she's petrified of you). we've been put on waiting lists for support groups but need help now, not in a years time. is ther any like minded people out there to share the frustration? would love to chat.xxx

  • thanyou for reply. glad you have got the diagnosis process started.

My daughter had difficulties at school due to no routine during december. putting on a costume for her nativity was hard for her too. had some big stresses. xmas went well, new year eve did not. petrified of fireworks, so not much sleep for us.

Hope all goes well, best wishes.xx

  • Hi

i can't offer much advice as my son is awaiting diagnosis and the process starts this week for us.  it has taken some time to get to this point he is three and half and isnt verbal which is quite frusturating for him. It is very hard awaiting a diagnois and just wanting to offer my support to talk about it. It's been a year for us to get to this point and it has been difficult. Is your daughter struggling being out of routine or the costumes. Here if you need to talk x
