Girls with aspergers...I think I have Asperger's syndrome??

Hi,

am 19 year old teenage girl and for quite long i have been thinking that I have Asperger's syndrome. I feel quite strongly about this. i would love to hear replies from other teenage girls who are going through or went through this.

I feel different a lot of the times, not when I'm with my family but when I'm out with other people and in social groups and situations. It's this feeling of different that I can't really explain but I just feel it and I know it. I can't explain to anyone either as people just won't get it. There are some people who just accept me no matter what and they don't explanation of anything they just accept me but that's rare so ,y focus has been on the majority of times that I feel judged and not accepted and manily just 'different'.

Ive started to read blogs about aspergers in girls and honestly I can relate to majority of it not all as every person is affected differently. Also, is there anyone who never had/has a meltdown? Because I don't think I've ever had one but I do get overwhelmed and shutdown but never meltdowns. also, is there anyone who doesnt have repetitive behaviours or stemming or is it not obvious so I do it without realising it?

Sorry if it was too much to read, would appreciate it a lot if GIRLS with autism can reply because I need people who I can relate to and autism seems to affects boys differently. :)

  •  I'm not sure where you get the idea that girls and boys are so different. It affects everyone differently. I am a 41 year old woman with aspergers.I had melt downs in my youth, in adulthood they turned to panic attacks. As many others, I have had a strong history of depression, anxiety and social issues. My 16 year old son who is also an apspie has never had issues with meltdowns, but internal shut downs. We both have sensory issues, but different things. He was shut down for 3 years and just recently started coming out of the dark cloud. Have you seen a neuro?
