Undergoing assessment

Hi all, I'm new here and was just wondering what to expect from the second part of my assessment for autism/aspergers.

I had the first part Today, and he said the second part will be using certain items while he watched. Another person will be asking questions.

It really has got me thinking about it over and over again, as i'm a bit of a worrier.

Any help would be greatly received

  • Yeah sounds about right. I have found out a bit more about my ADOS assessment now, and it appears I will meet two clinicians on my own(yeek), and I will perform lots of tasks for them.

e.g. telling a story from a book. I won't find out how it went for a few months-year though.

    Thanks

  • Hello Blues,

Our daignosis was sometime ago (2010, aged 4 ) so I'm guessing it may have changed BUT please be reassured our practitioners were lovely. Our daughter (now 10) was given certain toys to observe her play, they chatted with her about certain events, what might happen & showed her a number of picture cards to test theory of mind. She also drew a couple of pictures & talked about them. It was very supportive, nothing to worry about. The pyschologist & social development team also spoke wth us as parents re our own observations / any concerns.

In addition to her assessment they also observed her at school, spoke to her teacher, SENCO etc. She had a speech & language assessment & an Ed Pysch assessment (at school).

    Best wishes
