Anyone had experience with Priory Group

Hello everyone.

I mentioned this on another thread but does anyone have any experience with the Priory Group? I am currently seeking a private diagnosis and trying to find out which would be the best avenue. I have contacted them and they still need a GP referral but also that the process is two hour sessions. This does not seem like a very long time.

Any thoughts? Thanks

  • Many thanks. It sounds like two hours seems the average time for an adult diagnosis.

    This  has been helpful.

  • My only difference was that I had about a year of CBT before and in fact it was the CBT Psychologist (when I had re-refered myself for further CBT) who suggested I may be Aspergers and completed the forms for the GP to refer me. I also had two sessions to the one session Martian Tom mentioned. My mum came along too because likewise they wanted to hear what i was like as a child etc. We had lots of paperwork too.

The time scale felt like a very long time but it was easier for me in some respects as never crossed my mind beforehand. It was a totally new idea but refrained from reading anything until I had the assessments.  Then I caught up on things.  I think it must be more frustrating for the idea to come from the individual because they then have to work out what to do next about it.  Having the formal diagnosis is easier because it feels more secure when people want to know how they can help you.  Ps am a 48 year old.
