Please Help - Dyscalculia and Bus Pass Scheme

Hi all,

I don't know if I'm posting in the right place. Basically, Tuesday (21st) I have to go for a chat at a Learning place because I apprently could have Dyscalculia, where you can't do maths. I am told that it's a Learning Disability and therefore I'd get a bus pass.

I recently got a new award of PIP but I don't have the points needed to get one automatically. I'm really confused.

With Depression/Anxiety, Autism/Aspergers and now this, which all in one way or another inhibits my Mobility, I'd have thought I'd be entitled.

Many Thanks.

Daniel. x

    Hi Daniel,

A lot of people with autism don't get any PIP or anything else like that - autism does not itself prevent people from working or getting about in normal daily lives. Anxiety and depression often develop in people with autism and this can lead to reclusive lives and some people are unable to travel by bus because they get anxious when surrounded by other people. Some people with autism qualify for lower rates of PIP as I understand it because it does make them quite disabled.

Have you made any progress in dealing with your anxiety or depression since you were diagnosed with autism?
