GP Refusing Referral Due to Being a Student

Hey, I'm really at a loss at what to do. Every time I've been to the GP to try and and get a referal I get told that despite being "obvious Autistic" because I'm a University student and "obviosuly well adjsted" a diagnosis isn't needed and will just "hinder me" so I just get sent to counseling for social anxiety instead. I really don't know what to do. I know getting a diagnosis will help me massively at Uni and when it comes to finding a Job in the field I want to go into. I just don't know what to do to get the diagnossis I don't want to just keep going to the GP becaue it's really not helping anything.

Can anyone give me some advice?

  • Thanks. I think I'm going to try making the list Flyingsolo recomended and priniting off as much of the NAS info as well as the nice guidelines and the AQ test stuff and visit my doctor at home when I go back for summer because she knows me better.

    Unfortunatly the University haven't been much help though my mentor has been tryingto figure outif he can find a way to get me diagnosed through Leeds Uni who are the leaders in Students with Autism.

    Hopefully I'll be able to get it done before I leave Uni next year.
