hi all, I'm new and this is my first post, although I have been reading the forum for a while. I feel my youngest son age 6 shows signs of asd. he was late walking and talking. Smeared when he was younger and does occasionally now. He doesn't like nails/hair cutting and if there is a loud noise covers his ears. He likes routine and behaves differently between school and home. He is very violent towards me and his older brother at home. He throws things at me, scratches, hits and bites. He has been accessed by speech and language and has an understanding age of 3 1/2. We've been to appointments with peadatricians, dietician, occupational therapy and speech and language. School are insisting everything points towards speech and language and the frustration he feels when he can't undersrand or communicate. Whilst I agree with this I also feel there is more too it and feel we are just getting fobbed off. School are self funding an eta in a morning to support him. He is supposed to be supervised on a lunchtime as this is when he usually attacks other children, sometimes he is supervised and others he isn't. He will always lash out at others on a play/lunch and it's usually scratching the face. Other parents have complained. He has no eta support in an afternoon and even his teacher has agreed he needs it. His eta has changed 4 times (he's only in year 2) this has caused him disruption And he hasn't bonded with 2 of them. In my last meeting (this week) I am really disappointed that all they seem to be concerned about is the speech and language, I told them that there access met does not help me at home when he is being violent or smashing the house up. I've tried to restrain him and I've tried distraction techniques but these don't work, he even locked me in the conservatory whilst he smashed the house up. At desperation point I phoned social services, the disabled children unit came out to visit, they referred me for family support and closed my case as he is not 'bad enough' for thier service. I'm really struggling and dont know what to do next, I have phone a local charity who are starting to do cahms referrals from parents, I'm hoping this will help otherwise I'm not sure what to do next. I'm sorry for ranting on but it's been building up for a while. Any suggestions will be greatly recieved. Thanks for reading
