Anxiety and dizziness

Hello,

I often get anxiety and dizziness, this is actually quite a big problem for me which I am regularly seeing my doctor about.

I was wondering though. For those with an ASD does overstimulation when out, particularly from busy places and bright lights, cause, or make worse, anxiety symptoms and dizziness?

As I wonder if this may be the root cause of at least some of my anxiety attacks.

  • Hi BrianSmith,

I suffer with crippling anxiety which permeates most of my daily life. I usually have a pretty good handle on it but sometimes it does get the better of me and really throws me into a major meltdown.

I have HFA and I am super sensitive to noise, particularly loud or high pitched noises. I can get very anxious if I am in a place with either a high volume of noise or if there is a certain pitch that a noise reaches. For example if I'm in a cafe which is quite loud with the coffee machine and people talking, I can just about handle that; however if I hear babies crying in addition to this noise then that level of sound causes me physical pain and can really affect my anxiety levels, especially if I can't get away to some quiet.

If find that provided I can neither distract myself (usually with some classical music on my ipod) or I can escape the noise levels I can normally regulate my anxiety and my proclivity for a meltdown.
