Hello all,
Don't really know why posting this but feel I'm going a little bit crazy. My 3 year old son was "highlighted" during his 2 1/2 year check and was sent to a speech therapist who discharged us. As a teacher myself I was shocked in the way I was told my son was autistic and then robotically referred to speech therapy so then didn't follow up.
It is only now when I watch his development against his peers that I worry, he starts nursery on Wednesday and I am so worried I can't sleep or eat, I don't know what i'm worried about - being called in, having autism confirmed or just having no one I can share this with.
If this makes any sense to anyone who is sharing or has shared these thoughts I would love to know i'm not going insane!!
Thank you there's some amazing people on here that have made me see that autism is not the end of the world ... Just a different one!!
X
Hello, I can't thank you enough for your response, I look at my gorgeous little man and sometimes think he'll be ok, he knows who we are, our extended family, can express his needs and show affection but then there's the lack of social chit chat, meltdowns over things and "food issues" that all point towards autism - he's going to mainstream, I teach in mainstream and just hope he's ok and can reach some parts of the school world (I just want him to be able to make and sustain friendships)
What can I do to help? Shall I wait until the teachers bring it to me? Shall I see them with my concerns? Will they then be looking for every little thing he does? Am I rambling?!!
Thank you from insane A Seven! X
