going for diagnosis

Saw my GP today armed with a list (of course,) of 'reasons why' and asked to be referred to someone with experience of diagnosing autism in adult females ( I read that bit out aloud) -'and not the suicide prevention team where you sent me last time'.

He had no problem with giving me a referral this time and said I should get a letter in a few months - June maybe - and expect a couple of years for the whole thing - this is in Devon. Sooooo...we will see. My blood pressure's fine btw.

Posting because I've found a lot of support in the forums here - its taken 6  months for me to get this far, and I thought it might be of use/interest to others. I decided to go for a diagnosis because whether yes or no there's clearly something up, and self diagnosis, I feel, I could be using as an excuse for all my failings...
