Teeth grinding

Hello,

my son has recently been diagnosed with autism. He is 7. He has been grinding his teeth in his sleep since he was very little. The dentist assured me he would grow out of it (pre-diagnosis) but he now has some of his big teeth and I am really worried about him doing permanent damage.

Does anyone have experience of this/any tips on how to help him? I was told by our dentist that he is too young for night mouth guards because he is growing still and his adult teeth are still coming through so a guard could be damaging.

Thank you

  • Hey never ever say that! define normal? Maybe the "normal" people are not normal. Autism is amazing and fascinating and i learn everyday from my son :) you are a beautiful human with a beautiful brain. The world needs autistic perceptions! Look at all albert Einstein! he had aspergers and hes one of the most intelligent men in history .Also the steven guy who flew up in a helicopter for 5 mins and managed to remember every detail and draw the city to a t. Can any of your friends do that? My son can remember dates and when certain things happen on that day....he can look at a book for a minute and remember a whole paragraph! which makes me feel stupid lol  Be proud of who you are and never wish you was not autistic! you are amazing and the devine created you the way you are to fit perfectly into his picture . peace and love x
