Diagnosis given...what can we expect now?

HelloMy son was officially diagnosed yesturday with autism, he is 3years old and it's what we knew already tbh so we were not shocked or sad just kind of relieved as I was told this diagnosis could take take years to be given and this has taken around 8months! Is there a reason why he was diagnosed so quickly?

We was told the consultant will write up th official letter so things can begin to be put in place for our lb, does anyone know what support he will get? His at nursery 2days a week and funding for 1:1 is requested. Just what we should expect really? Thanks in advamcce xx

  • My daughter was diagnosed last week she's also 3 years old.  From my partner and i calling the health visitor because we were concerned about her lack of communication to her diagnosis took around 10 months. She started nursery in September she gets 1 : 1 help 5 morning a week and they are really helping to bring her on. She doesn't talk it's mostly just her own little noises but she's starting to say odd words more often. If she wants something she'll grab my hand and lead me to whatever it is. It's daunting but the help and advice we receive from various places like the north east special needs network  (we're from newcastle) and the early additional support team from Newcastle council is excellent.
