Can you recommend a kids book on AS please?

Hi, my 10 year old has just been diagnosed with Asperger's and we're on the look out for a good book.  Initially it'll be for him to look through but then he is hoping to share the book with his friends as a way of telling them about his diagnosis.  We've been recommended Tony Attwood as an author (by the consultant) but that seems to be mostly adult books and I don't know where to start!  We were also pointed to jkp.com which looks great but again - so many to chose from!   "Can I Tell You About Autism" by Jude Welton looks quite good but only being able to see the first couple of pages isn't very encouraging.

Thank you in advance!

Tracy

PS: I hope this is in the right place, if not please feel free to move it!

  • Luke Jackson's "Freaks, Geeks and Asperger Syndrome - a user guide to adolescence" was written aged 13, very much within the right sort of perspectives even if when published 2002 children's language and horizons may have changed (Jessica Kingsley Publishers and now available as an E book)

I need to order Luke Jackson's latest book "Sex, Drugs and Asperger's Syndrome (ASD) - u user guide to Adulthood" I wonder if the title is tongue in cheek, emulating the original, or really does touch sensitive issues!  Also Jessica Kingsley and due out in February next year.  Doing the arithmetic he must be 26 now.

Another book, despite being published 2000, is still very relevant Clare Sainsbury "Martian in the Playground - understanding the schoolchikld with Asperger's Syndrome". It addresses parents about school difficulties but could be read by a younger person as the explanations and examples are fairly clear and illustrative.

These are books I know about - there must be others around.
