Hi am new here and need some advice about my 5 year old son.
Since starting school (September 2014) he has started having problems. He's always been a bit different but its only been since he's been at school we have noticed it more. My mum suggested after a particularly difficult day during a half term that he may be on the autistic scale. We did some research on his behaviour and think he may have aspergers. We went to the doctors who didn't follow local protocol and we didn't get a referral but he did say he thought my son was fine! ( even though he never spoke to my son). We were called back to the doctors to see a different doctor and he said he'd worked with autistic children before and he thought my son was fine even though my son refused so talk to the doctor and would only nod or shake his head. We pushed the doctor a bit and he asked for a letter from the school and that he would decide whether to refer us when he saw that. The letter from school didn't throw up any major issues as we find the routine he has at school helps keep him settled. The doctor refused a referral as he was meeting expectations at school. The doctor suggested that his behaviour problems may be because of the mild glue ear my son has in his left ear and that I should just get that delt with. Then the summer holidays happened and things with my son have got worse. He's been so aggressive towards me and my youngest son when he gets frustrated. I think I was the only parent happy school was back after the holidays. Since he's been back he's been better.
I don't no what to do next do I go back to the doctors and ask to see a 3rd doctor and try to get some help or do I speak to his school or do we just carry on dealing with him as best we can?
