How do they usually carry out assessment?

My son who is 9 recently recieved an assessment for autism bt the child and family mental health team.  This consisted of us and the school completing AQ tests then them taking him to a room for about 1 and a half hours then returning him to me. 2 days later my school doctor sent me a letter to say that my son did not have autism.  Is this assessment usual as noone spoke to us at all about our son and the difficulties we feel he faces.

  • That doesn't sound quite right. Might be wrong though.

I'm sure there are others who are more qualified to answer your question.

Our assesment has gone on for ages and involves current school, past school, educational psychologist, two doctors and my D is under s paediatrician who specialises in autism

If u still feel and believe he is autistic then change Drs..

Definitely call the Helpline for NAS and chat to someone about your concerns.

Has ur son been able to tell you what happened in that room. Who where the other people. Please let us know.
