Waiting for Assessment

Hi All,

I'm dad to my 4 year old son who is currently waiting for an assessment for ASD.

We had a letter 3 months ago confirming the referral made by the HV had been accepted and that we would have to wait for the assessment appointment.

Does anyone know how long this will take? Its starting to drive me crazy!!

I should say that we are pretty sure our son has ASD and SPD.

We are hoping a diagnosis will open some doors to some support!

  • hi my son is 3yrs 3months. asd first got spotted at 18months and his file will go to the autism panel in 5days time. nervewracking. so its taken a yr and a half from the referral from the HV to now. an official diagnosis. they asked us to come back 6months later so they could collect reports from pre school, hearing test, eye test, health vivitor and speech therapist. then she said it is asd and it just needs to be confirmed and made official from the autism panel. i am a bervous wreck and emotionally drained but also relieved that we will funally get the right support for him. hope this helps. oh we also only got the appointment 3weeks before it was due but i rang them couple of months before and they told me when it was booked in for.
