Waiting for Assessment

Hi All,

I'm dad to my 4 year old son who is currently waiting for an assessment for ASD.

We had a letter 3 months ago confirming the referral made by the HV had been accepted and that we would have to wait for the assessment appointment.

Does anyone know how long this will take? Its starting to drive me crazy!!

I should say that we are pretty sure our son has ASD and SPD.

We are hoping a diagnosis will open some doors to some support!

  • Hi there, I am in a similar situation to you at the moment. My son is 15 and waiting for assessment since April. From what I can gather it depends on where you live and the child's level of need. My son suffers from anxiety and CAMHS told me to revisit the GP and get them to write to CAMHS saying how much it's affecting him in order for his diagnosis appointment to 'maybe' be brought forward.
