Thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you to those who chip in and give support on here. We had a pretty rocky time last year and with our son going to secondary this year we knew he was going to be vulnerable. I got support here that kept me going.

It's taken a while, but we saw an absolutely wonderful doctor today for a 1 hour assessment and based on all the paperwork and letters sent in by school, CAMHS and his counsellor we have a provisional diagnoisis from today, just so they can alert the school before the end of term ready for Sept, and she says it won't change. Formal diganois will follow a meeting with her in a few weeks with us along to talk about social and communication issues but she says she has all the evidence she needs.

We always made it clear that we weren't driving for a diagnosis of autism but we knew something was wrong and we wanted to know how to support him and keep him safe emotionally and physically.

So for everyone who is where we were last year, have faith, trust your instincts and if you instinct tells you your child needs help, keep pushing to get the right assessment done.

Apparantly we are in the bottom 10% of provision so if we can do it, you can to!

  • That is good news for you!

I hope the transition goes smoothly.

I'm just like you, not driving the autism, but need to know what we are dealing with. There are times when I wonder if we are barking up the wrong tree.

We are on our 2nd round of fighting. I just want him fully assessed for everybody's sake!

Good lucl to you and hopefully we shall see you around :)
