Assessment for Aspergers Syndrome - surely there's somewhere closer than SHEFFIELD

I've been referred by my GP for an Aspergers Syndrome assessment (I'm 30 years old) and the referral has been sent to Sheffield.

There is no way that I can get to Sheffield. It's nowhere near to where I live in North Yorkshire. I can't drive so I would have to take the train and I'd never make the journey in one day along with taking my children to school and getting back home to pick them back up from school. I really need this assessment. Surely there must be somewhere closer to me.

  • Hi

It maybe worth going back to your GP and explaining that there is no way you can go to Sheffield.   There maybe some provision for a diagnosis in Harrogate or Northallerton.  Alternatively there may be someone who could care for your children after school.  Getting an appointment for an assessment is something that some people wait years for and it would be a shame to not go.

    Good luck
