toilet training help!!

Hi my son got a diagnosis of autism in February of this year. The main concern at the moment is toileting. He knows exactly what we want him to do but he is hesitant. We have tried over and over and he will say "no toilet today". He has went before after debating with him and is proud of himself and we have praised and rewarded also but immediately after he wants a pull up nappy on and will NOT want to put pants on. He thinks its ok to wear pants over his nappy as hes more confortable this way i think. He also has to wash his front when in the bath as he wont let me or his daddy wash him there.. i think its because he has always wore a nappy that he must sensitive down below or because his privates havent been 'exposed' to any other material such as pants. He is 5 on the 31st of this month (may) and he is super smart!! He makes me so proud every day

  • Hi. I have two beautiful identical twin girls. They are 3 1/2 and have recently been diagnosed with ASD. One is showing an interest in the potty and the other is not. I decided to try potty training them separately both for this reason and for the practicalities. I put my daughter on the potty every 10 minutes and she will pee. But she doesn't put herself on. Even though I am putting her on every 10 minutes and she pees every time, she is still wetting herself in between. I assume she is not fully emptying her bladder. The thing I'm really struggling with is pooing. She will not go on the potty but will go either in her knickers or her pull up. If I'm not watching her (I can't watch both of them every second of the day!) She spills the poo on the floor and jumps in it and sticks her hands in it. she even rubs it on her face. This happens day and night and I'm at my wits end. To my shame, it really got to me today and I shouted so loudly at her. Im absolutely disgusted with myself. I feel like we are not getting anywhere and I desperatly need some advice if anyone out there can help us. I feel like she just doesn't understand as the poor thing is on her own little world. I have tried picture cards and reward charts and Im worried that the twins won't be potty trained by the time they go to school. To be honest, I'm more worried that I am putting all of us under even more stress. I hope someone can help us. Thank you.
