HIV positive and Autistic

Hi, just wondering if anyone has or knows someone who has, experience of helping an autisic young person cope and understand how to live and enjoy a safe sex life whilst also being HIV positive.  Social stories, etc or personal anecdotes on how best to support someone in this situation would be apreciated.

  • I'm affraid the only suggestion i can come up with is to go to the sexual health clinic with them. I personally know people whom work in S.T.I Clinics, and are emapthetic, intelligent people. They are excellent at giving councelling on how to cope with the HIV side and are empathetic and have good communication skills, so they can offer good support and don't judge..  And they can also advise on safe sex, relationships , social stigma. If the person is struggling with being autistic too, then get as much support/info for them as possible.
