had diagnosis today

hi all well today we found out that our little angel has autisim and as his only two they said his high functioning im still trying to get my head around everything and still trying to understand why i just feel numb and feel im to blame i know its not mine or my partners fault but when you feel that you alrady know the answer they are going to give you it still feels like a stab in the heart when they do tell you  and they have already planned the next steps to put in place for our son and we have a very good surpport already in place for him his just started nursery and this is a struggle at the moment as its a massive change to his routine and altough he his non verble it can be hard to try and explain that i will be back to get him although i know as soon as ive gone he soon settles and is playing but do you know whats funny on how peoples veiws change automaticly once you tell them that yes we was right all along we was not being parinoid that there our son is diffrent from other kids his age but one look at his little face just makes me know everything will be ok and this is a new journey we are going on as he will teach us things that we never knew i would just like to say to those who are going through the same or who are fighting to get a diagnosis dont give up there is help out there because we have to make others sit up and listen

  • Hi, my son was diangnosed high functioning ASD on Friday. He is almost 7 and it was first picked up on by the health visitor at his 2 year check. It has taken so many years and he eventually got seen by CAHMS as first started with Paedeatric who checked for various physical/genetic disabilities. Like yourself even though I knew it was coming it has still been hard to get my head round. Just replying wiith a hey
