first assesment done

hi so we had a our first assesment yesterday for my son feel alot better now i know what is going to happen the one thing they were happy with is that i had kept a diary of my sons behaviour i highley recommend this to anyone awaiting assesment i had been keeping a diary since june so they can have a better understanding of his behaviour instead of me or my partner just saying well he does this or that i also have been keeping a photo book on my phone of his behaviour and meltdwons also a photos of people or places we vist as this helps my son understand they said that it all helps with diagnosing my son so im really pleased ive been doing all i can. the speech therpist said how they asses to see if he has autism and what leval he is at altough the way she said it i got the feeling that she was saying she does not think he has got it maybey it was just the way i interpreted it i just hope at the end of the assesment process they can help and give us answers

  • hi thanks so do i his non verble at moment i when i do ask him i do wait and see if he will answer me its really frustrating for him as he uses his hand for getting our attention for what he wants i give him options like for example i ask what jucie he wants red or orange when he picks which one he wants i will then say red or orange then ask him to say it ive been doing this now for quite some time with him he has servere speech delay which has beeen diagnosed by slt but on a plus note he is starting nursery in a few weeks so really hoping this will help him with his speech and social skils they have been really surpotive as it is attched to a play and stay so all the staff that work there work in the nursery too so they already know him and he knows them which has really put my mind at ease im just glad that his being assesd now rarther then later as a freind of mine has a 9 year old son who has aspergers he only got diagnosed last year and she had to fight for him to be assed its such a shame that we have to fight for our loved ones when the medical professions should listen to us when we say that something is not right
