What are some of your most cherished memories, whether from reading a novel, watching a movie or TV programme, visiting a special place, or spending time with someone dear to you?

The other one that sprang immediately to mind was entering a church in Rome where there was a sculpture I wanted to see.
I hadn't expected to burst into tears, but I did.
This is the only time this has ever happened to me - I was so moved.
This is it:

Rome, with all its historical and religious significance, must have been an incredibly special experience, B. To be in a place like that would be unforgettable I would think.
I went in the 1990s (I think) and with my friend who was a partner at the time.
We have both since been late diagnosed autistic.
He wouldn't fly so we went by train from London.
Unfortunately on the train from Paris to Rome we couldn't figure out how to lock the cabin door and neither of us spoke Italian and none of the staff appeared to speak English.
As we wouldn't leave the cabin and there didn't appear to be a buffet car, just a formal restaurant, we ended up not eating or drinking for the whole journey and then I had a coffee that I was desperate for at the Rome station which turned out to be espresso which I hate.
Rome is a wonderful city and, as you say of 'historical and religious significance'.
Going to the Vatican one day and then the Colosseum the next was rather mind blowing.
