of sick with a chest infection

So some foundation first before the discussion.

I'm Asthmatic since childhood and have had my lower right lung removed to lung chancer dispite never smoked in my life about 7 years ago.

Now currently off sick from work with a chest infection.

This of course is not a nice feeling at all, and have gotten steroids and antibiotics from the dr for it. I'm having to use my spacer to take my inhalers as my breathing has become somewhat shallow. (BTW this is normal for me when I have a chest infection or bad astham attacks, but I know when to get help and when to not worry about it.)

And while this is of course is making me misserable, one thing I have noticed is the lack of social connection that I would have from work or from my dungeongs and dragons group because of it and I.. well not feeling lonely, but lacking that conection which is also not nice.

I'm playing an online game final fantasy xiv which is social game but the connection is not as involved as with real people in real life. And I'm left not knowing what to do with myself.

Also my mom is doing some food shopping for me as I don't feel well enough to go out to do food shopping and I was going to pay but she insisted which is nice. And  this just leaves me with the stress of been able to pay the  bills, now I've got rent sorted for this month, which means I do have a bit of leeway but not much and I just have to see if my benfits will pay out this month or not, and what my wage will be like on ssp and the wages after that, and thats if I'm not of sick for another week, (I guess I cross that path when it happens).

  • Hey crawlerbasher, sorry to hear your so sick, that is really tough.

My daughters asthmatic (since covid), and my son was hospitalised several times as a baby/toddler from viral induced wheeze brought on by chest infections, so I can imagine you are pretty much out of action with it, it can be scary. I hope you can continue to take it easy and rest as long as you need to heal, especially being more compromised in the lung department. It's great you have your mum near to help you with things like shopping, it's really wonderful to have that support when you need it.

Hopefully you can manage some chats on here, there are some random fun ones, to help with the connection. I know you've contributed to some of the gaming threads before! You are part of this community after all.

Take care and take it easy with your recovery.
