Do you know that Doctor Lorna Wing has died?

This should really go in Important Announcements but I do not see an Announcement section.  I am putting it here as it should be a seperate discussion not part of a discussion the way I did it last time. I did not know how to start discussions.

I am putting it under Diagnosis and Assessment  as she is a Doctor.

Doctor Lorna Wing has died and she was about aged 85.

She was a Psychiatrist.

She helped set up the National Autistic Society.

Doctor Lorna Wing had an Autistic Daughter who died a few years ago.

I do not remember meeting or seeing her.

I only learned that she died from the papers of the NAS AGM where there will be a trubute to  Docotr  Lorna Wing.

Did you know that Doctor Lorna Wing died?

Do you know about Doctor Lorna Wing?

David.

  • I agree we should honour Doctor Lorna Wing but do not agree with everything she said.

I read what she said at an Asperger Conference ten years ago.

I commented on what she said and she said that as she had limitted time  she exagerated the differences  between Autistic people and so called Neuro Typical people.

In my last E Mail I should have said that Doctor Lorna Wing was a Doctor not is Doctor.

Is their anyway that can be edited.

    David

  • Im not sure I agreed w everything she wrote, but for her contributions to understanding, for her prolific volume of work, and for her role in founding the society we should honour her.
