My ASD son pinches and grabs constantly throughout the day. Sometimes, this is because he is frustrated; but most of the time, it is because of sensory needs. We have tried sensory toys for this, but most of what we have used he has broken within minutes because he chews the toys as well.
We are currently looking for a sensory toy that he could use to squeeze; it would need to be malleable and somewhat resistant (like putty, but not putty as he has smeared this into the carpet before). Most squeeze toys can be punctured, with the liquid from inside leaking (this has happened with his biting it), so it would also need to be a toy that would not break (and leak) if bitten.
Does anyone have any experience with this that can offer suggestions of toys? Any help is appreciated!
