BBC docudrama 'Heatwave' - bringing attention to how we look after isolated people in this fractured society

The excellent docu-drama Heatwave [broadcast today - soon be on i-player] is based on the  heatwave of 2006, and how it disastrously affected so many. With climate change, these conditions are highly likely to re-occur.

Many of us live isolated lives for a mulitude of reasons - ageing, disability, lack of interested family, few or no friends - the usual social effects of autism.  I find it sad to think how many might live and die alone in future and ways to ameleoriate this - particularly for the autistic community - yet without intruding on individual ways of living. 'Heatwave' cleverly shows how people were ignorant  about the results of climate change, seeing only the positive side of hot summers and therefore remaining unprepared. What do you think? Is it worth the risk of becoming ill or disabled with no one around to help, in order to live a free life. Would you mind dying alone? Do you want to be forgotten? Without being maudlin, I would love the idea of a virtual memorial area on this chat site, where our autistic virtual friends can be remembered, their lives recorded.
