Hearing aids and over sensitivity

I've worn hearing aids nearly 20 years. About 6 years ago I hit burnout and combined with a change in supply of wires and domes I stopped being able to tolerate my NHS aids Like having an earwig crawling in my ears.

I inherited some money and privately bought a different style, thiner wires and in ear receiver that seemed to add weight and minimise movement. All was well untill guarantee ended and now as a pensioner i can't afford replacement or repair.

So I went back to NHS to see if things had changed. I was delighted to be offered similar to the ones I could tolerate and returned the ones I couldnt tolorate. I went for fitting and set up today and to my dismay they had the old style that I couldnt tolerate. I explained and they confirmed this was all that was available on NHS now. I clearly couldn't tolerate the earwig domes, I managed 10 minutes, and was at the end of coping and close to meltdown. I accepted moulds to be made I have to go back again. I now fear I cant tolerate these either as they will occlude my ears like noise cancelling buds, my internal noise will be too loud.

If this is the case I will have no aids no access to clear speach and they also reduce my tinnitus.

Has anyone found a solution to this. I cant use access to work as im retired. Life feels intolerable and isolating right now.
