melatonin - time release for 3 year old ?????

Hi,

My little man has been on regular melatonin for over a year now for some serious sleep issues.

Since having it he now falls to sleep without to many issues so long as routine is strict. However he still regularly wakes through the night to eat (another big issues.. Food)

Anyway I have heard of the 'time release' melatonin and wondered if anyone children take it as our pead won't perscribe the time release one but does the regular. Says he is not licenced for it?????

Thought about getting it myself?  Thought I'd seek info first.

Sorry to ramble.

  • Hi,

Well he's almost 4 and is stronger and more phyiscal than his 8 year old brother.  If I deny what he wants then I have absolutely no chance of getting him to sleep for that night, he kicks, hits, bites screaming throws toys, head butts the floor and pinches own face.  As is not getting own way.

Which in turn wakes his brother who then is an emotional wreck as is tired and been woken by brother.

He has a complete black out blind it's pitch black in his room. He has a double bed as moves a lot and used to fall out regularly or I'd find him hanging upside down head out of bed so double bed resolves these issues.
