Extreem fizzyness/overwhelm

  1. I wonder if anyone has found a way to manage that volcano wanting to errupt feeling. I understand that my nervous system is very overloaded but I cant work out how to release it. As a younger person I would have self medicated in unhealthy and unsafe ways, but as a carer this isn't appropriate. Its extreem and I need it to stop in order to function.

  • Non-AI response here   . I have great respect for carers - it's a tough job and thank you for doing it. I have had my own high stress periods in life and found I needed to decompress through breathwork, exercise and talking about it with a colleague or friend. As you note, the important part is where and when to let it out, but your stress cycle does need to complete. Perhaps also look out for the earlier signs of overwhelm and act then,  though I know our interoception as autistic people is a bit variable.
