"Just an old wives tale" or a type of mental conditioning.

When someone says dont eat cheese at night and another person replies that's just an old wives tale it isn't true, the reason is that if you eat dairy and most people benefit from having dairy in their diet you also need to eat fruit and foods containing malic acid apples are a very good part of diet and high in malic acid and best eaten after you're evening meal for various reason and its also best to seperate apples from any foods that are high in dairy. It's more than likley that old wives tales were spoken rules and guides to help people in their lives but poor people who are or were unable to follow the rules of diet and especially during wartime rashioning would use the lie that "they're just old wives tales" and with make do and mend being a political agenda during wartime Britain it became encouraged and accepted as a type of bade of honnor and people were re-educated which has led to mass confusion over the generations as to what is good dietary advice and what actually works for the brain and body. One of the reasons why people struggle so much with diet is because we as a nation are blinkered by pride, attemting to pay respect by recreating the suffering of thoes that came before us and had no other option, they would turn in their graves to see people punished and made to feel weak and ashamed for attemting to look after their own health and welbeing with good and proper diet and lifestyle.

See i knew i wasn't stupid, well not like a brushes daft anyway...although sometimes i do struggle to get a handle on things "yo lips whats the take on these new fangled daft excluders"

I've not heard of this being quoted as a reason for our bad collective diet. Do you have any research to back this up? I'm genuinely curious.

  • A little over the years but lately ive been looking into a question that was put to me by a beautiful young lady many years ago and the question was this " what do you think it was that got him in the end ? " and as far as i can gather it wasn't the cough that carried him off it was the coffin they carried him off in.
