Sleep, energy, time, diet, love, life and your husbands and wives.

Turkey contains the amino acid tryptophan which the body uses to to produce seretonin and melatonin a hormone concerned in regulating the circadian rythem and aiding a good restfull nights sleep and when caebohydrates are eaten alongside turkey the positive effects it has on sleep wake chemistry and the circadian rythem are increased. Now that its approaching bonfire night you may be looking forward to preparing cooking and eating such delicaciesas as traditional lancashire black peas and the like which are made with dried black peas onion carrot celery salt and malt vinigar to taste, black peas if cooked and eaten alone especially of an evening may keep you awake all night long as i did discover in my eagerness and to my detriment not so many moons ago so now on my second approching my second attempt after firstly lerning from my mistakes and with some personal lived experience in the bank so to speak im reaserching my next effort and considering taking the traditional lancashire black pea recipy and adding some turkey meat to the dish or even making two pots one standard for walking aroundband keeping awake alert and energised and another for calming down relaxing and preparing to sleep with added turkey meat and as the national autistic society curently studying into sleep and diet then it may be helpul if some people take the oppertunities that this season provides to conduct some research into foods whow they work together and if they work in the same way or differenty depending on the time of day that they are eaten and if it is possible that there is a way in which to place foods in order working in conjunction with the rididngand falling of the sun that would help people who strugle with sleep, energy levels and if it could also help aligne the senses and reduce sensory overoad and other troublesome issues that are a hindrence to many a man and his wife such as the dreaded IBS a killer of romace in the short termand in many cases long term loving relationships.

Can turky meat be added to the bog standard traditional lancashire black pea recipie as it is or is there a need to add other ingrediants when cosidering sleep ?

  • Hi

I can only answer this on a taste level.

The Lancashire  back eyed pea recipe sounds yummy. I have a memory of Sara Cox mentioning this recipe on her radio 2 show at some point.

Personally I think turkey would add to the flavour. Although would one sort of cancel out the other, so to speak. The turkey may help with sleep, but I know from experience dried pulses can be terrible for my IBS, this keeping me up at night.

Thanks for the heads up about turkey helping sleep.

I think I may try this recipe but just have small portion. Hopefully it won't aggravate my IBS.

  • If you take a look at what bonfire night is you'll see its a rebles training camp intended for helping potential rebles function and be physically and mentally allert in situations where there is loud noises condider fireworks battlefield noise and bonfire smoke smell light and heat is to disorientate and confuse the senses, the foods are seasonal they are offered as snacks throughout the night but they make up a full meal and you need to eat all of them in the correct order if you want to be able to sleep that night, jacket potatos are the starch crbohydrate, black peas provide fiber, non meat protine and also contain carrots celary and onion which are added carbohydrates, pork sausages are eaten with bread onions and tomato sauce and or mustard which help absorb and digest the meat and apples are eaten because they help to hydrate, there is a no alcohol policy during bonfire night and its that way for a reason, all of the foods and activities are set up to overstimulate and are a test to see who has the understanding physical and mental agility and ability to keep calm remain alert and keep others safe eat what works for the brain and body and have the ability to sleep at night and be well rested for the following day. All of the foods work together to create a meal and the whole meal is what makes sleep possible. Bonfire night is good ASD dietary training and can help reduce sensory overload not by was of exposure therapy but by understanding food and what makes a meal how and why they work together for the brain and body. I am a human and because i am a human i am a omnivour and i require a wide varied diet in order for my brain and body to function as best it can, i eat meat and i speak the facts but i won't ever force another person to do something that they do not want to and in turn i expect the same. I don't hurt anyone i have no malicious intent a farm animal is unaware of its own mortality animals are uninteligent and do not experience fear paine and sufering in the way human beings do, to slaugher live stock for food is not cruelty to consider live stock as wild animals keep them alive would result in more suffering for those animals than is acceptable and no responsible human being would be able to be so cruel, meat is not murder ; murder is murder.

  • it seems to me your personal oppinions are abserd and i feel its safe for me to say that you are wrong

Such is the beauty of opinions - they are individual. I try to base mine of facts and experience. How do you base yours?

Do you ever over react and become obsesed, is it like tunnel vision in your mind as you become fixated on discrediting another person

Nope - I'm really good at keeping things objective. I highlighted where you were factually wrong or where my experience differed to your views to give perspective. This is typically the basis of a civilised discussion.

As for your other questions, what relevance to any of them have here? Diet is important but you seem to place too much emphasis as a cureall.

Finding ways to manage your own mind are much more condusive to resolving the issues you talk about in my experience and a good diet is a supporting element. The root of the issue for autists tend to be mental is origin so diet is only ever going to help around the periphery and not deal with the root cause.

  • Animals can and do feel pain and only someone who dosen't spend any time with them would be so ignorant

  • Maybe some of the facts you have pulled from whatever resorce you have could be corect but it seems to me your personal oppinions are abserd and i feel its safe for me to say that you are wrong in what you say and the way in which you think regarding your approach to other human beings, do you struggle to empathise prioratise rationalise and socialise ?

Do you ever over react and become obsesed, is it like tunnel vision in your mind as you become fixated on discrediting another person and are only willing to identify and highlight any faults in what they do or say ?

Has it ever been said that you struggle to see the bigger picture ?

What is your diet like, do you eat well ?

    How do you sleep ?

Are you able to adjust for yourself ?

This may help you and with a better quality sleep you may start to develop some level of creativity and out of the box thinking, please try to look after yourself, diet lifestyle and sleep hygene is very important to health physical mental and emotional as well as your cognative ability and resilience.

  • I’m only a simple person so I’ve never gone that deep into it, but it’s interesting hearing your take on it.

I believe it is actually a celebration of the execution of a domestic terrorist who tried to blow up the houses of parliment some 400 years ago:

    https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/inspire-me/real-story-of-bonfire-night/

Very pro-government and not rebel alliance thing I'm afraid.

there is a no alcohol policy during bonfire night and its that way for a reason

Where I lived in England all the pubs were open all the usual hours and there was a LOT of alcohol being drunk. What are the origins of your policy? Given how much my town liked to be a rebel I wouldn't be surprised if they ignored the law mind you.

animals are uninteligent and do not experience fear paine and sufering in the way human beings do

I would beg to differ on this one. If you have ever worked on a farm then you will find pain and suffering are in line with humans in the same situation and intelligence depends very much on the species.

The average farm collie is smarter than some people I know for example and it it had compatible vocal chords I have little doubt it could learn to speak. Cows and sheep on the other hand - thick as two short planks.

Goats can be remarkably intelligent but also stupid - not unlike humans I guess. I've got a soft spot for chickens as they seem to be able to play, be maternal and boss other farm animals about in equal measures.
