Making a doctors' appointment

I finally plucked up the courage to register with an NHS GP surgery a few months ago. It went nice and easily; just a simple form and questionnaire. That's the first time I've had an NHS GP since 2017.

I finally plucked up the courage to book an appointment the other day. So I went to my local surgery... and it was unexpectedly closed. So I went into town where the main surgery is. They have a 'triage' system where they take some basic details then get someone to telephone you to book the actual appointment.

Of course no one ever bothered calling.

  • Right, I'm pleased to say that I was seen on time, the receptionist was helpful in telling me where to go (Its a large practise in a large health centre). Typical doctor I suppose in the sense that she wasn't very talkative and didn't have much so-called "bedside manner" but she was polite and asked appropriate questions and arranged an appointment with the local mental health service for a couple of weeks time. No idea what they do as such but she said I'd be able to discuss matters in more detail.
