Constant pain due to oversensitive and inflammation

I get pains all the time, resulting from my over sensitivity and anxiety and inflammation according to my GP and the various other medical professionals I've encountered. I've read how many people with ASD experience abdominal discomfort and have to endure daily chronic pain. I fit in this category also and I'm struggling with it. I find it debilitating and frustrating. Nearly every day I'm at home and doing the same things, always staying in bed and I feel like no one else understands. I wish there was something I could do that would help this, just improving it would make a big difference to me.

This year I wanted to do a walk to raise money for autism and in the end after training I was too tired and in too much pain in my legs and arms. I've had dozens of hospital scans and tests there's nothing serious wrong it's all related to my autism and anxiety. Still frustrating though. Still I try to look on the bright side I get a lot of enjoyment from watching the Simpsons and reading fiction books.

  • Hi, I also get abdominal pain and exhaustion - I was told years ago that it was chronic fatigue syndrome, now I've been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder I'm starting to think the pain and exhaustion might be autism related.

Sorry to hear you didn't manage your walk - maybe you could manage something less physical if you still wanted to raise money.

I also cannot do very much, but when I can, I do a bit towards one of my projects each day and over months I usually manage to achieve quite a lot.

  • I'm sorry to hear your suffering from this as well. It's really horrible I wouldn't wish it on anybody not even my worst enemy. Have you heard of burnout? It could be down to that as well, it's part of autism. I'm thinking I might be struggling with burnout as well. I'm not an expert though I'm recently diagnosed and still learning about autism and the things that accompany it.

Thanks. I'm considering doing something online, I don't know what yet but I have some ideas that will cause me less exertion.

Well done that's really positive and I'm pleased you're doing stuff you enjoy. What projects have you been doing?

I would like to do more but I don't really know what. I'm in a bit of a slump right now. Some days I'm buzzing with motivation other days it's non existent. I did some creative writing yesterday, that's a hobby of mine but today my mind couldn't settle on my writing.
Oh well tomorrow is a new day and hopefully I'll be more creative tomorrow.
