Visual stress - spatial distortion

Hi,

This morning not for the first time as I was leaving the house I suffered visual distortions from a striped fabric.  The stripes were 1cm thick, blue and white.  The whole garment began to fizz and undulate and then spin down.  I looked away and looked back and the distortion reoccurred.

I have had this before but not in light of adult diagnosis.  I investigated a bit and this seems to be linked to visual stress of teh kind dyslexics have.  I am not dyslexic but mildly dyspraxic.  My eyesight is a mystery to opticians however and I have given up on precription glasses.

Can anyone provide some ASD-specific guidance on this.  Is this ASD, or is this some aspect of a comorbid diagnosis brought on by recent stress (on top of everything else I had dental surgery yesterday which was horrendous)

Thanks

Jakob

  • That's actually spot on, thanks.

I am finding these things becoming more common with age although there is probably a confirmation bias too.

My sensitivities have tended to be tactile and aural with only variations in visual quality, but the strong sense of crawling reality this morning was particularly disturbing.
