IBS / Stomach issues and autism

Does anyone else on here experience extreme Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other stomach issues?
I've read a lot about the links between these conditions and Autism, possibly because of the stress for us of trying to navigate the NT world.

I have extremely bad IBS, have done for over 12 years but lately my symptoms have become far worse. I was in hospital Thursday and Friday having tests because of nausea, light headedness, bad stomach pain and constant diorrehea. At one point they thought I had appendicitis. Even now I am awaiting further scans and tests to see what's wrong even though I suspect it is a very bad flare up of my IBS. (For context, I have been under a great deal of stress lately)

My question is does anyone else on here have similar things? Would be useful to know

  • I used to suffer from IBS and I thought it was caused by eating too much starchy carbs. I have found that it's better for me to keep my carb portions small, but that's because it can cause acid reflux. Since retiring my IBS has disappeared, so it seems it was due to stress and anxiety.

  • I think mine may be similar. Work is definitley a massive cause of it
