Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

Hi,

I'm just wondering how getting ESA and Universal Credit etc works. My son has High Functioning Autism and struggles with the ordinary things in life such as daily routines, eating, drinking etc. For the past couple of years he has tried job hunting and has been getting Universal Credit. It has become obvious to him now that he is not really coping but he doesn't understand the system. A couple of years ago he got a sick note from the GP which was renewed. After a few months, it went to Review and he was taken off the support group category at the Job Centre and since then he has found the Job Centre interviews very stressful as they suggest work that is not suitable for him. This leads to him staying up all night worrying before a Job Centre discussion. Perhaps he should be registered as long term sick as I think this would be the most suitable for the time-being.

Any ideas?
