  • Hi

Sorry to hear you have not been supported so far with this issue. My daughter is 12, she has autism and the cognitive age of 7. She started menstrating early this year. Her periods are heavy and as well as the emotional distress this causes her she finds the self care very difficult to cope with. The peadiatrician that diagnosed her has said to give it a few months to settle then she will refer her to a gynacologist who may prescribe the mini pill so that she only has three periods a year. Perhaps you could speak to her peadiatrician as they are often more helpful than GP in my experience. Or a nurse who has nothing to do with sen could even surprise you? Do you have a health visitor? You just have to keep knocking on doors sometimes!!
