My friends little boy is now 4 and he is showing all signs of having autism but the doctors are refusing to diagnose anything wrong with him. When we know as fact there is definitely something not right.. has anyone else had these problems and what did you do? Where can my friend take this further? As a second opinion is needed urgently.

  • This would have been better on it's own new thread to get replies.

My daughter is 12.5yo and she had to deal with it at age 11.  It was difficult, she has needed guidance in the practical side, but explaining things factually and reassuring any worries will help.  Be prepared with pain killers in case of stomach pain as it would only cause more distress if she suffered with dysmenorrhoea it would make her anxious and even fixated on each month as she would be expecting pain.

  • Hi my daughter has HFA she is 13 and she is really struggling with changes she is going through.

Has anyone been through this with their daughter and has any suggestions on how I can approach this.

    Thank you.

  • Do you mean the GP won't refer for an assessment, or do you mean that he has been referred and the clinical team won't diagnose?  It doesn't surprise me either way knowing the ignorance of GPs and the NHS failings going on.
