any help much appreciated x

Hi all,

Im a mum of 2.  My youngest is a 7 yr old boy who is currently going through assesments.

I have been fighting for these assessment s for years and feel like im still getting no where.  Any advice would be helpful.

A little about my son... he is extremely bright and does great at school. But at home is completely opposite. ..

He's had obsessions all his life from keys, to trains now its electronic items ... his behaviour is horrid and I cant control him.

He tells lies constantly and not lies to get him out of trouble but to get into more trouble.

He wees himself most days but is dry at night and knows when he needs the toilet.. seems to be when he gets told off or is laughing.

He tells stories to people to get me into trouble and this has put strain on the family ... stories of me beating him which are not true.

He also says he wants to die ..

Im at my wit's end ... and need help.

I work with young adults with learning disabilities.. so its not new to me but trying to get him diagnosed is hard. . They just saying its naughty behaviour but I know its more.

Please advise

  • I have an 8year old daughter that has autism and we had to fight the school for about a year and a half to get a diagnosis, but I would really push it if your son has a doctor or paedetrition I would ask them to help, any health profession to push the school along.

i asked a teacher in the SEN part of the school for help she was great , once there are other health professionals involved you find the school have to take notice.

i think there is not enough awareness of ASD and teachers should all be made to go on courses about it, there was too many teachers in my daughters school that had her down as just badly behaved (before she was diagnosed) and she clearly had other issues.

my daughter has obsessions also and at the moment it's toy story, i hope you get a diagnosis soon.

    good luck.
