Delays in assessing ASC

Although the above article is about Yorkshire specifically, it isn't alone in this.  When my eldest was assessed by our own CAMHS, she was referred in mid July 2012 and was not assessed until end of March 2013, despite the NHS NICE Guidelines saying it should be within 3 months and despite our local services claiming that all children referred were seen well within timescales.  They lie.  And I have heard other families have this problem too.

So much for autism "levelling off" (as currently claimed in the media) - the truth of the matter is, that by the time you account for all those hundreds in every area on the waiting list across the country, and all the unrecognised autistic girls it's not levelling off at all!

  • The Healthcare Commission is supposed to be driving forwards on the efficiency of CAMHS (Child and Adult Mental Health Services). So if it is going in reverse in some areas that proves the Healthcare Commission is pointless.

It is not helped by slavish use of the Triad of Impairments and professionals who think its about ticking boxes.

And no sign of real progress on training and awareness....
