Yes, it is yet another dental tale from yours truly. Please try to refrain from groaning too loudly with despair.
Yesterday, I succeeded in attending an appointment at my 'new' dental practice... Not to have anything done, but to enable the dentist to have a good look at my teeth. Since finishing my cocktail of antibiotics just over a week ago, I have been continuing to experience pain in my left ear, cheek, and jaw, causing me to fear that maybe the antibiotics hadn't been completely effective at nipping my dental infection in the bud.
During my appointment, I was required to have what appears to be known as a bitewing dental X-ray. It seems that technology has evolved since I last had a dental X-ray, and I quickly concluded that I can now add bitewing X-rays to the list of dental procedures I dislike. In addition to struggling to open my mouth wide enough and feeling like I was about to gag, I then had difficulty trying to close my mouth, due to feeling like the oral end of the bitewing was cutting into my cheek and gums. Much to my relief, my discomfort was short-lived as the X-ray was completed within a matter of seconds.
The good news is that the X-rays confirmed there are no signs of any infection. However, they did reveal that in addition to a broken tooth that needs to be extracted, the tooth next to it (a crown) will also need to be extracted, as there is a fracture under the surface of the crown. As my 'new' dental practice sadly doesn't offer sedation, a referral will be made to the 'emergency dental practice' a few miles away for me to have both teeth extracted. I have been told the 'emergency dental practice' will contact me directly to get me booked in, and that this is likely to be within the next fortnight. From my perspective, the sooner those teeth are extracted, the better.
