I have aspergers and anxiety, I have a feeling there is something else wrong but not sure!
Firstly, I don't have a diagnosis of autism. I was diagnosed recently with generalised anxiety disorder, at a recent assessment for autism, but I'm unhappy with the way the assessment was conducted and dubious about my diagnosis. Here are all my ailments:
IBS
Endometriosis
Osteoarthritis (undiagnosed as yet, but definite from the shape of my fingers)
Allergy to benzoic acid derivatives
Adult onset asthma (only post viral episodes, no attacks, not chronic)
Position vertigo
Histamine intolerance
Gallstones/ gallbladder removed at 30 - pre-baby and not overweight
Aspergers (TBC)
Psoriasis (@6yo)
Psoriatic arthritis (@17yo)
Various other inflammatory problems (Eyes, ears, prostate....) that I put down to the systemic nature of Psoriatic Disease - it's a geneticly linked immune mediated disorder.
IBS (@18yo)
Gluten Intolerance (Found out for myself whilst trying to help IBS)
GERDs(@34yo ?)
Depression(@32yo)
Obstructive Sleep Apnea(@32yo?)
I have had tummyache virtually every day that I can remember, and eczema on my hands and head that seem to be related to stress but when I get stressed out I eat bread or ceriels, I want to eat lots of bread pasta or stuff like that and the lady at the health food shop said the eczema was probably because of my diet, but if I'm not stressed out I eat better things
IntenseWorld said:Describe the symptoms.
Possibilities could be:
depression
irritable bowel syndrome
gastrointestinal problems such as GERD
ADHD
OCD
hypermobility...ad infinitum
I have all these mentioned here. My GERD has it's ups and downs, and just now it's on a down. Anything with onions, strong flavour, fat, or chocolate, make me feel incredibly ill just now. But, luckily my doctor says I can take an extra Omeprazole at night time if my symptoms are particularly bad.
I have Asperger Syndrome and I have really bad stomach ache a lot of the time, and bad breath. I don't know if its related.
...I ought to add on hayfever for me, only the odd allergy other than that. According to a test I had once I also have a few food/substance intolerances. Not sure whether it's tomatoes or red peppers but one of them makes my tongue swell up and be agonising where it gets bald patches, which I think is called geographic tongue.
Oh blimey, everyone else's lists keep reminding me what else I have. I too have eczema and mild Reynaud's.
This is a depressing list. I'm sure many of these conditions are directly related to the genetics of autism.
Hello -
As well as autism I have the following:-
IBS
GERD and Barrett's syndrome
Asthma/eczema which are worse with stress - MUCH worse
Raynaud's disease
also lots of allergies especially to drugs
I have no mental health issues that I am aware of but before I was diagnosed with autism, one dr thought I might be OCD but I don't think I am.
I have recently been diagnosed with auto-immune problems and these are still under investigation.
What makes you think bipolar, do you have manic and down episodes?
Is it possible it's ADHD? That is genetically related to ASC and also can be co-morbid (I forgot I have some ADHD too according to a qEEG I just had!)
Many people with Autism / Aspergers also have co-morbid mental health issues. Have you been asked for a referal to a psychiatrist? I think there's some corss over with Aspergers / Autism and mental health issues.
I also have OCD. But I am sure that's Autism related and not actually a separate diagnosis.
I'm thinking like some kind of personality disorder but there has been previous mention of bipolar that was dismissed by a dr but we found out he doesn't know much about mental health anyway so thinking of asking my new GP I just feel there is more than the Aspergers going on.
Oh yes, I have Irlens too!
super-meg, what is your other thing do you think?
