bloods and genetic testing

Hi all - im new here!

My 3 year old son.. is currently being assessed.

CAHMS are involved and senco - his Dr sent him for a varity of tests - bloods/microarray/fragile X ....

I got a call this morning saying his genetic ones will still take a while but he has a low iron count and needs a prescription as soon as possible to supplement him.

Is this normal or is it a indication of anything?

Any help or insight will be great!

thanks

  • Hi - it might be worth checking with the Paed how low his iron count was.  A number of yrs ago I was anaemic + felt absolutely terrible.  Hardly any energy at all.   I took iron tablets + really picked up within a couple of days.  You cd ask the Paed whether you cd give him iron tablets for only a few days to boost his levels + then wd it be ok to stop + make sure he was getting iron rich foods?
