bloods and genetic testing

Hi all - im new here!

My 3 year old son.. is currently being assessed.

CAHMS are involved and senco - his Dr sent him for a varity of tests - bloods/microarray/fragile X ....

I got a call this morning saying his genetic ones will still take a while but he has a low iron count and needs a prescription as soon as possible to supplement him.

Is this normal or is it a indication of anything?

Any help or insight will be great!

thanks

  • Hi. My son has all those tests too, they all came back clear therefore the paediatrician was able to diagnose him autistic. He also had a low iron count in 2 seperate blood test but was given an iron supplement (syrup) it did the job as in getting his iron level back up but left his very constipated and uncomfortanle so I stopped him on it and just make sure he eats loads of food that contain iron now!!

Try not to worry. It all sounds like procedure.
