I love early mornings - do you?

Morning all!

I was very excited to wake up naturally at 5.22am this morning. I love the peace and quiet of an early morning. The birds are also chirping (quite enthusiastically) in the garden.

I always find that by the time I've done a full day at work my energy is depleted so mornings are the blissful free time I have free from any pressures before I have to go about the mandatory aspects of my day.

Today, I've done my usual morning routine and now I think I'm going to do some Japanese studies with a coffee.

I get a little grouchy if I don't get any time to myself in the mornings before work.

Mornings turn out to be a very good indicator of my wellbeing. If I'm not waking up early enough to have me time before work on several occasions, that's general indicator that I'm feeling very stressed.

Does anyone else have a similar love for the mornings?  How do you use yours?

  • I love early morning. I realised a few years ago that my mood is very affected by the quality and amount of daylight I can get. I find it difficult to feel energised on dull grey days. So Spring and Summer mornings really set me up to feel good for the rest of the day. I'm lucky to have some trees outside my bedroom window. I open the window no matter what the weather is and listen to the birds. Earlier this week I heard a cuckoo for the first time. It helps me feel grounded and connected to pay attention to nature and the changes that happen through the seasons. You also get no judgement from the natural world.

  • Hi Ottilie, I Love the energy from light mornings too! Though I also love thunderstorms and heavy rain so that's nice too. I've never seen a cuckoo but it sounds lovely! I walk in to work across a field and the sound of the birds and the greenery helps me feel more balanced. I like to pay attention across seasons but Iget time blindness and end up missing a lot.
