unable to engage

NAS85149

My son has been unable to engage with anyone else other than direct family for the past 3 years.  If anyone come to the house he hides.  

CAHMS tried to help over a 2 year period but failed.  - 3 out of the 4 practioners he had failed to turn up for appointments. 

We believe he is autistic / ADHD with possible PDA 

We've had a private diagnosis for autism but they have come back and said hes he not autist but its hard to diagnose as he wont engage.  We dont believe this is the correct diagnosis. 

He's nearly 18 and now we are finding services wont help him as he wont give consent. He has an appointment coming up for adult mental health but are worried they wont help as he wont engage. 

we dont think he has the mental capacity to understand he needs help 

we also think he has PTSD from forcing him into school when he was 15 hoping help would come.  

me and his Dad have to work reduced hours as he gets anxious if left alone for too long. 

He has no qualifications, no job prospects and no life skills as no one wants to help us.  

has anyone been in a similar situation and found a resolution.  

We are really fed up now and its starting to effect mums mental health.
