What helpful home adaptions/modifications have you done?

I've just bought a 2.5 L tin of 'Forest Green' paint to do some of the walls in my new house as literally every wall in every room is bright white and it's causing sensory overload. Green is a very restful colour and my favourite colour too

I've also bought an anti-glare screen for my laptop because i've noticed over the last 3 or 4 months that i'm having to spend less and less time on it because it's hurting my eyes/head

Lastly...i've bought some headphones to cancel out other house noises like my fridge, cars/people passing by outside etc as i get bombarded by these all at once

Are there any other things that will help that i've not thought of?

  • I've turned an area of my bedroom into a calming sanctuary. Loads of artificial plants (I don't do well at caring for real ones). Candles, lots of greens. I have items for meditation and also a box of my favourite sensory items. This is my retreat from the world, and also from my noisy home.

  • It almost sounds like you are describing my meditation corner in my bedroom Slight smile

I've uploaded a photo so you can see mine: https://ibb.co/Qc5v10y

There is a peace lily on the left, a white (artificial) orchid in the centre, and the canvas is of the Nanga Parbat mountain which is in the Himalayas

I have a Buddha ornament but i'm not strictly a Buddhist...i just like the peaceful expressions in Buddhist art/statuary.

Just need to get the walls painted now as they're much too bright for me!

  • Your space is beautiful and peaceful. Mine has become quite cluttered with spiritual representations. It does act as a distraction though. Perhaps in the spring I should unclutter my space and make it a little calmer. Thank you for the inspiration.

My wallpaper has fake words on it in some cursive writing style, drive myself crazy trying to read it, so I covered my area in wrapping paper with a green gradient, held up with blu tack. Not perfect, but less insanity provoking.
