What helpful home adaptions/modifications have you done?

I've just bought a 2.5 L tin of 'Forest Green' paint to do some of the walls in my new house as literally every wall in every room is bright white and it's causing sensory overload. Green is a very restful colour and my favourite colour too

I've also bought an anti-glare screen for my laptop because i've noticed over the last 3 or 4 months that i'm having to spend less and less time on it because it's hurting my eyes/head

Lastly...i've bought some headphones to cancel out other house noises like my fridge, cars/people passing by outside etc as i get bombarded by these all at once

Are there any other things that will help that i've not thought of?

  • Haha. I did paint our room green, long time ago, at the begining of my (now over) relationship, my ex hated the colour. I think NTs mind connects it with hospitals

For me it was very relaxing. I find find white depressing. Except for snow

You haven't mentioned blinds. If I feel like exposing to sun I go to sit in a park. Through my window it's too disturbing, distracting, interfering with watching anything on screens

  • I kind of agree with you about white in terms of home decor. It's not so much that I find it depressing, but more that I find it a bit too clinical and bland. It's quite a 'cold' colour.

  • I think green is a restful colour because it symbolizes nature. I believe 'Green Rooms' backstage at theatres and events venues are called that because green is a calming colour so would help with the nerves / mood of the actors / performers. Obviously most of them are no longer green but that's where the name comes from.

I'm sorted for blinds. I have a stick on one for the door in my living room which is quite handy as it's south facing so gets lots of sunlight
